Service Aims

Since 2010, Cherish Integrated Services has been committed and aimed to support people with developmental disabilities and children with ASD in the community. We are proud of the trust and dedication of the families and our supporters, Cherish built substantial expertise and became better known in the training and support services and allowing us to serve more diverse populations in the community.

In many of our interactions with the families and schools, we realize there is a group of young people with disabilities, who have the potential to be openly employed and enjoy a more dignified and independent life after some vocational training and skills nourishment. Owing to various reasons, their needs were not catered to, and some of them were idling at home and waiting for this opportunity. 

What is Vocational Training

  • Prepares individuals for specific careers
  • Typically, non-academic and directly related to practical skills.
  • Focuses on teaching specific skills and knowledge required for a particular job or profession.
  • Emphasize hands-on learning
  • Lead directly to employment in the chosen field.

Service Purpose

  • A self-sustainable social enterprise
  • A diverse vocational training program for high-competency individuals with developmental disabilities
  • An employment support and job training program for employable trainees
  • An opportunity to build a caring and inclusive community that allows everyone to play a part in it
  • A chance for our trainees to contribute their potential to the community

Who we serve

  • Age from 21 to 50
  • High cognitive functioning
  • NO emotional and behavioural issues
  • Independent working and living
  • Eligibility in open employment

Core Courses

Pre-vocation skills

  • Independent living skills, community living skills, money management, inventory management, organizational management

Interpersonal and communication skills

  • work-related language, with customers, with co-workers, with supervisor, handle complaints, problem solving, vendor relations, networks with other coffee makers, etc

Work Habits and Self management

  • workplace safety, work attitudes, habits building, emotional regulation, positive psychology at workplace

Elective

Based on past experience and observations, most adolescents and persons with disabilities entering the workforce tend to choose service-oriented industries to gain work experience. The service industry encompasses various job knowledge, skills, and requirements. Therefore, we have selected four popular industries, allowing trainees to choose based on their abilities and interests within the course, thereby developing specific skills.
