While we are aging and have health deterioration, as the parents of people with intellectual disabilities, we are inevitably worried about the care of our children in the future. Not to mention the terrible long waiting list of government-funded residential services, we will also concern ourselves with whether the residence is best-suited to our children. Will they adapt to the culture, language, activities, and meals, etc…. Do they get along well with the staff and mates in the residence? And so on…
Not only the above concerns, we know the prolonged waiting list and the eligibility of the various residential arrangements are also terrifying our parents. Therefore, as the parents, the spokespersons of our children with developmental disabilities, we have the obligation to share our utmost concerns and needs with the community and government officials, and hope they can improve the resource allocation and service provision in our province.
If you are a caregiver of an adult with intellectual disability or developmental disability, we sincerely invite you to participate and fill this important survey.
